Getting Started in Small Batch Ceramics

This first batch is really about re-learning the materials and getting my hands back in it… play as the whole point. I loved the process of starting a ceramic piece without any planning and letting it lead me into structures that required more restraint and refinement than my more loose and forgiving 2D mixed media and paintings. Working in clay in my Asheville studio has cracked something open. Hand-built ceramic sculpture is a totally different conversation than anything I've made before, and I LOVE IT ALL. The longer intention is to bring the vibe of my 2D work into 3D, and that's a thread I plan to keep pulling.
